well...atheist, but ok a jew. was he into comedy or something?

i've only seen him teamed up with hitch in a religious debate.

Hugh and Fry were a comedy duo, then they kinda went their separate ways and worked together again in the Jeeves and Worcester series......Stephen Fry seems to be the font of all knowledge, a very well educated man.
