Chris as a former police officer do you think it is really safe that people scan police communication?

What if you were trying to get to a scene and you stated on a radio where you were going to stage to look out for a murderer and the murderer heard it and shot into your car from behind or a small distance?

But anyway, as an officer you know that is a possibility, you keep that in your head, adjust your actions accordingly.

this is so good it should be illegal. i would be pissed if some dumb officer broad asked for my info over the radio and blabbed it all out for the world to hear.

It isn't illegal. There is really nothing that can be done. Ugly what is being done though is that officers are sending confidential information mostly over the computer now. And having mostly idle banter via the radio. For info private info such as criminal records, dl numbers names dates of birth etc. Sometimes here anyway you will hear on the radio the dispacher say " john doe clear all the way" and that is after the officer sends in the private info in over the computer.

Now im sure in some smaller areas, or areas that arent up to date, they cannot afford the computer systems etc but in most large cities like NYC a lot of their traffic is now done via computer. You still get some talk over the radio but not as much as you used to.

The police scanners bore the shit out of me. Probably because I would hear my husbands daily. Its funny thought and Chris will know what I mean. You can tune those suckers out so easily but if you hear your unit numbers you jump up and ur like " what what what " You don't miss your unit numbers.

Anyway, I don't agree with posting police scanners on this site but this isn't my site, and therefore its not my choice. Chris gets to do what he wants.

Staten Island used to have a live feed on but for some reason they stopped it.
