USS New York (LPD-21)
New York (LPD 21) The Northrop Grumman Corporation-built amphibious transport dock ship New York (LPD 21) is the fifth in the San Antonio-class series. The bow stem of New York contains 7.5 tons of steel recovered from the World Trade Center and the ship is named in honor of the victims and heroes of the 9/11 terrorist attack. The USS New York was commissioned in New York City on Nov. 7, 2009. |
