When you're medically trained, it's your job to administer CPR even if there's no hope of survival. The families don't know that, and if you don't administer CPR, they can sue you for negligence. Families and survivors do that. So you can't just shoot the paramedics down for doing their job. That is also coupled with the fact that when someone's dying, even if they're already dead, the panic response that's triggered in your brain immediately starts blaring out to do everything you can to save the said person. One of my former professors told of us a guy he knew that when he failed to administer CPR to someone, though the guy was dead, the family sued the guy for not doing everything he could to save the guy's life. He lost his license after that. |
