where did you get this from?
The first person was dad, who was in the Army Air Corps/Air Force from '42-'67, though not in the PTO. I've heard it other places, but wouldn't be able to say where.

Damn, wonder what went wrong.
Rotor blades can actually hit the ground in a hard landing. Everyone who works around rotary wing aircraft know not to get within the rotor length of the vehicle until the pilots clear you or the rotors have stopped. There have been hard enough landings with helicopters to cut into the cockpit and ruin the pilot's day.
