Do you think Nikki was following the fundamentals of life, when she took out the other car and put the guy in the hospital. He was " DOING" The speed limit. Did He deserve to be in the hospital for her mistakes. With over 2 million accident free miles under my belt, I can say that when she hit him and lost control....That was no accident. As far as the parents getting nasty emails...I stronly disagree with that!
I would never have known about this if they hadn't gone on national TV to tell their story.
As for me being an SOB,...the great thing about freedom of speech, is that you are entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. It's kinda ironic that you should tell me to learn the fundamentals of life, when you're hiding behind a screen name that represents one of the largest known criminal organizations in the world. Not that I have any problem with that, as they did clean up the gang activity in the city I used to live in.

Man as if it isnt bad enough that the family has to deal with the heartache of losing a loved one, now they have to deal with all those horrible emails! I honestly feel sorry for that family.

This girl, driving by her father's admission in a stolen--borrowed without permission--car, hit another car before hitting the toll booth.

We are fortunate that this very troubled girl didn't kill anyone else. I hope the people whose car she hit sue her father.

While I think it's wrong to make light of this tragedy (I'm not!) her parents did not seem sympathetic to me. It must be hard for her Realtor (TM) father to earn a living now that the bubble has burst, and it's probably taking a toll on this family that probably likes to keep up appearances.

I know that images taken by the Federal governement, by law, belong to the public. I have no idea about CA state.

But fairness would dictate that a photo of an event that occured on public property, that affected the general public (the people driving on that road), and photographed by an organization chartered with protecting and serving We, the People, belongs to the public.

My advice to the parents: You can come off as a class act if you say

"We hope these horrific pictures will send a very clear message that irresponsible actions can have dire results. Please visit our website to see another side of our Daughter. We're thankful that nobody else was hurt by her actions, and we pray that God, and the Public, will forgive her"

You're absolutely right! This was an "ON PURPOSE", not an accident.

There's no difference between Nikki and that kid who wanted to die who went to the mall, shot 8 people, and then killed himself. ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE. See my post on how her parents should have reacted if they didn't want to sound like jerks.

I joined this site and came to this post out of morbid curiosity. I knew nothing about this incident or its aftermath untill I saw the story on 20/20 last week. I consider myself as liberal as anyone and I believe in personal freedom of expression. All the same I was truly shocked at the horrific reality of these pictures. I don't believe in censorship of any kind, but I'm not sure right now why I decided to look at them. They certainly have affected me in a way I did not forsee. I do understand the familys position now and I don't think I really did untill I saw just how terribly gruesome these photos are. All that said I still believe that people should have the right to view them if they choose to. The whole situation is tragic, but there is a lesson to be learned from it, no doubt about that. By the way do you have any kids? You sound very bitter about this girl that died of a tragic death. I have two beautiful adults children (both married) and one terrific wife. I don’t really know about you, but after reading what you posted, "you wouldn't loose any sleep if she crashed into your truck", sounds to me that something in your life happen with a teenager and it is haunting you. You need to give this matter a rest and go on with your life. You see I too have had my ups and downs, serving in Viet Nam and being a firer fighter. You heard me, a firer fighter, which I help 24/7 on 9/11. You will be astonished and amazed how many police officers and firer fighters are part of my organization. You only hear the bad news, never the good we perform for this great country. Sorry for the SOB, I could have call you much worse. And do respect this family for what they have gone through.
